The paperwork of a trade purchase, with no surprises

What to know before you order a vehicle on Biancar: who invoices you, which VAT applies, which documents you get and what stays on your side. This page summarises our terms and conditions, which prevail.

For motor trade professionals only

Biancar only sells to dealers, traders, garages, rental and leasing companies and brokers. Every account is checked by hand against your EU VAT number. Consumer protection rules (withdrawal right, legal guarantee of conformity) do not apply to these sales.

Who invoices you

Depending on the vehicle, we act in one of two ways, always stated on the order form:

 • As an intermediary: the partner who owns the vehicle sells it to you and invoices you directly. Biancar adds no fee to the listed price.
 • As a trader: Biancar buys the vehicle from the partner and resells it to you, on a Biancar invoice.

Price and VAT

You are based in France

You see the price excluding and including VAT. On a vehicle with recoverable VAT, the VAT is shown on the invoice and you reclaim it as usual.

You are based in another EU country

You see a net price, excluding VAT: the sale is a VAT exempt intra-community supply and you account for the VAT in your own country. Two conditions: a valid EU VAT number (you can check it on the European Commission's VIES service) and proof that the vehicle actually left the country of departure.

Margin scheme vehicles

Some vehicles come under the margin scheme for second hand goods. They are flagged on the listing. VAT is neither shown nor recoverable, and there is no export exemption: the all in price is the same in France and abroad.

New vehicles for VAT purposes

A vehicle under 6 months old or under 6,000 km is a new means of transport under EU VAT rules. It can never be sold under the margin scheme and always follows the intra-community supply rules.

From request to order

 1. You click "I want this vehicle" or make an offer.
 2. We check availability with the partner. Nothing is binding at this stage.
 3. We confirm in writing, with the order form or proforma invoice.
 4. A deposit may be requested with the order. It is not a cancellation fee: once confirmed, the sale is firm.
 5. The balance is paid by bank transfer before collection or delivery. The vehicle remains the seller's property until paid in full.

The documents you receive

 • The invoice, from Biancar or from the partner.
 • The registration certificate or its foreign equivalent, when the vehicle is already registered.
 • The European Certificate of Conformity (COC) when supplied: each listing states what is included.
 • The inspection report, for vehicles that have one. You can read it on the listing before you buy.
 • The transport document (CMR) when the vehicle travels by truck.

Document lead times depend on the partner or the manufacturer and are indicative.

Transport

Transport is never included in the listed price. You can collect the vehicle yourself or ask us for a quote from our transport partners, in France and across Europe. Risk passes to you when the vehicle is handed over to you or to your carrier. On delivery, inspect the vehicle and write any reservation on the CMR before signing.

Proving transport for export sales

For an intra-community sale to stay VAT exempt, the seller must be able to prove that the vehicle arrived in another EU country. EU rules (Article 45a of Implementing Regulation 282/2011) presume it with two non contradictory documents issued by independent parties, for example a signed CMR and the carrier's invoice.

If you transport the vehicle yourself, we will also ask for a written statement of receipt, no later than the 10th day of the month following delivery. Without this evidence, the exemption can be challenged and VAT charged.

Registering in your country

Registration, road approval and VAT reporting in your country are your responsibility. Rules and documents vary from one country to another: check with your local authority or registration service before you order if you have a doubt.

Sold as is, between professionals

Vehicles, used or zero km, are sold in the condition described by the listing and the report. Between motor trade professionals there is no commercial warranty and the hidden defects warranty is excluded. Any remaining manufacturer warranty is handled directly by the brand's network. Mileage is indicative and photos are not contractual: read the report and ask your questions before ordering.

Special cases

Financed vehicles

Some rental and fleet vehicles are still financed when listed. The partner clears the finance before handing over the documents.

Ex rental and end of lease vehicles

A large part of the stock comes from rental companies and corporate fleets. These vehicles are usually recent, dealer serviced and offered as several units.

"Société" versions

Some small cars exist in a French "société" version, approved as a two seat light commercial vehicle. They are flagged on the listing and filed under vans.

A claim?

Report any issue in writing at delivery, with photos and the reservations written on the CMR. When we act as intermediary, the claim is handled by the partner who sold you the vehicle and we help the exchange. When we act as trader, it is addressed to us and handled under our terms and conditions.
